Whiting Fire Festival 2015 More than 500 people were served lunch Saturday at the 13th-annual Whiting Fire Festival, it was reported, with proceeds earmarked for the Whiting Fire Department. Serving with a smile at the lunch line were, from left to right, Marian and Gary Schlaegel, Opal Featherston and William Thomas. Initially used to pull farm equipment and road scrapers, this CAT later had cable lift blades added to it so that it could be used as a bulldozer. At 20,500 pounds, this machine was powered with a four-cyclinder, overhead valve gas engine.
