Royal Valley splits with Maur Hill
The Royal Valley High School varsity basketball teams split their games against Maur Hill-Mount Academy at home.
The Lady Panthers edged past Maur Hill 56-51 at home while the RV boys team fell 68-44 to the visitors.
The RV girls are now 2-0 overall and the RV boys are 1-1 overall. Royal Valley will now host Valley Falls on Friday and travel to Jefferson West on Tuesday. The first games begin at 4:30 p.m.

In the girls’ game, the Lady Panthers took a 15-13 lead in the first quarter. RV extended its lead with a 16-12 second quarter to lead 31-25 at the half.
RV added 15 points in the third quarter and kept the Lady Ravens to 10 points. In the final quarter, Maur Hill outscored RV 16-10.
RV sophomore Panno Wahwassuck had a big game for the Panthers with seven three-pointers and scored 26 points. Freshman KiWe Miller followed Wahwassuck with 14 points.
The Lady Panthers were 7-17 at the free throw line and Maur Hill was 11-20.

A strong first half by the Ravens’ boys team helped them win 68-44 over RV last night.
Maur Hill outscored RV 17-9 in the first quarter and 19-11 in the second to take a 36-20 lead at the half.
Royal Valley had 13 points in the third quarter but Maur Hill kept finding the basket and scored 20 points. The Ravens finished the game with a 12-11 fourth quarter.
The Panthers were led by sophomore Landon Gilbert with 13 points followed by eight points from junior Trystan Murata.
Maur Hill was 4-7 at the charity stripe and RV was 8-15.
