Wilma Morris 1944-2026

Wilma June Morris, 81, of Meriden, died Friday, Jan. 2, 2026, at her home.

She was born Oct. 4, 1944, in Holton, daughter of Lester E. and Velma “Jean” (Davis) Bruton. Wilma was a 1962 graduate of Meriden High School and dedicated 45 years of service as a supervisor with the Kansas Unemployment Division.

Wilma married Garry Lee Morris on Nov. 16, 1962, in Ozawkie, and they shared 58 years of marriage together until his passing in 2021.

Wilma is survived by her daughter, Shelly (Doug) Coverdale, Holton; her sons, Richard Morris, Meriden, Frank (Teresa) Morris, Ozawkie, and Craig (Annette) Morris, Meriden; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Warren Bruton; and a sister, Lois Dugan.

Cremation care is planned with a Celebration of Life Gathering from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 12 at Barnett Family Funeral Home in Oskaloosa. Online condolences may be sent to www.barnettfamilyfh.com
