Wayne Henry 1955-2019

Wayne Francis Henry, 63, of Holton, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, July 14, 2019, at Holton Community Hospital in Holton.

Wayne was born Dec. 24, 1955, in Axtell, to Joe Jr. and Evelyn (Feldkamp) Henry. He attended St. Patrick’s Catholic Grade School in Corning, graduating from eighth grade. He graduated from Wetmore High School in 1973.

Following high school, he helped at the Goff Elevator until an accident in 1977; he then went to work for Henry Brothers Implement in Holton as the parts manager.

On Sept. 13, 1986, Wayne married Brenda Potter in Miami, Okla. 

Wayne had a passion for the outdoors. fishing, hunting and collecting toy tractors and Heston belt buckles. He was a member of St. Dominic’s Catholic Church in Holton, as well as the Holton Knights of Columbus. 

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, Joe on March 23, 2008, and Evelyn on June 21, 2016; and a brother, Tom, on Feb. 15, 2018.

Wayne is survived by his wife Brenda; his five children, Jasmine (Joe) Viera of Atlanta, Ga., Torrey Henry of Holton, Alicia (Jake) Spalding of Holton, Alyssa Henry of Augusta and Justus Henry of Wetmore; and three grandchildren, Malachi, Paislee, and Elias. He is also survived by siblings, Michael (Cheryl) Henry of Topeka, Alan (Paula) Henry of Wetmore, Rosemary Henry of Holton, Kathy Scheid of Goff, Joyce (Kenneth) Stallbaumer of Wetmore and Jeff (Trudi) Henry of Topeka. 

A rosary was prayed on Wednesday, July 17 at Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca. Mass of Christian burial was celebrated by Fr. Jaime Zarse on Thursday, July 18 at St. James Catholic Church in Wetmore. The draping of the pall over Wayne’s casket was his wife and children. The commentator was Alicia Spalding. Giftbearers were April Henry, Aidan Henry and Kadance. Pallbearers were Torrey Henry, Alyssa Henry, Jasmine Viera, Levi Henry, Scott Dutt and Kirt Henry. Wayne will be buried in St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Corning.
