Wayne Dodd Jr. 1942-2015
Wayne E. Dodd Sr., 72, Holton, died Sunday, June 7, 2015, due to injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident north of Nortonville.
He was born July 10, 1942, in Tampa, Fla., the son of James E. and Martha E. Moat Dodd. After graduating from Provine High School in Jackson, Miss., he attended barber college in Pensacola, Fla.
Mr. Dodd served with the U.S. Air Force in Vietnam. He later became an instructor at Roffler Barber School in Pensacola, Fla.
He was a member of the Holton VFW and American Legion.
He married Georgina L. “Gigi” Gibson on June 8, 2012, in Holton. She survives.
Other survivors include his children, Wayne E. Dodd Jr., Mineola, Texas, Jimmy D. Dodd, Milton, Fla., Kristina L. Grimes and husband Elton, Madison, Ala., Shannon N. Dodd and husband Calvin, DeSoto, Shelly M. Dodd, Albuquerque, N.M., Tiara N. Dodd, Holton, and Michelle Stierwalt and husband Derrick, Mitchell McCrory and Mindy McCrory, all of Holton; a daughter-in-law, Nellie Olivas; a sister, Judy Dodd Trebony Palmer, Savannah, Ga.; a brother, Rickey Dodd, Silver Creek, Ga.; 27 grandchildren, Jonathon, Timothy, Christopher, Brittney, Patrick, Savanna, Joseph, Brandon, Keyvin, Kalvia, Dominick, Candee, Bryson, Bradley, Emily, Anthony, Austin, Tiffany, Joseph, Gavin, Maliya, Skye, Caleb, Juan Jr., Tisha, Nickolas and Dekota; and a great-grandson, Landon. He was preceded in death by a brother, James Dodd, in 1965; and a son, Michael “Mike” McCrory, in 2012.
Funeral services were held Monday morning at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Military honors were to be presented following services in Holton Cemetery.
