Wava Skaggs 1924-2026

Wava Skaggs died in Hanover, Pa., on Sunday, Jan. 18, 2026, at age 101.

Born in Denison, she was married to her high school sweetheart, Bob Skaggs, during WWII. They were married for 57 years. As members of the Greatest Generation Bob and Wava served this nation as a military family and as civilians. Wava retired from the National Security Agency at Ft. Meade, Md.  

Wava is remembered for her generosity, adaptability, quick wit, sense of adventure and playful sense of humor. Wava was loved by everyone that knew her. Her warmth, love, kindness and desire to support the people around her are all part of her legacy. Her smile brought light to the world around her.

Survivors include her son Jay; two grandchildren, Rob Dekelbaum and Alayna (Dekelbaum) Henderson; and three great grandchildren, Kaia, Kamea and Kaelie Henderson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob, and daughter, Roberta (Bobby Kay).
