Viola Groves 1938-2021

Viola “Kay” Groves, 83, Aurora, Colo., died Saturday, Oct. 9, 2021.

She was born Sept. 26, 1938, in Holton, the daughter of Harry and Alberta Walsh Zirger. She grew up in the Circleville community, graduated from Circleville High School and earned her nursing degree at St. Joseph’s in St. Joseph, Mo.

Mrs. Groves worked at Children’s Hospital.

She married Arthur Groves on March 19, 1963. He preceded her in death, as did her parents; a son, Mark Groves; a sister, Marjorie “Pat” Bruns; and a stepfather, Mike Pelton.

Survivors include a daughter, Arlinda “Sue” Carter and husband Fred, Lebanon, Maine; a sister, Cheryl Larson and husband Howard, Holton; five grandchildren, Brandon, Anthony and Cassidy, in Maine, and Christopher and Taylor, in Colorado; three great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

A memorial mass was held Wednesday morning at St. Therese Catholic Church in Aurora, Colo.
