Victoria Shopteese 1960-2025

Victoria A. Shopteese, 64, Topeka, died Friday, Feb. 21, 2025 at the Advena Living on Tenth, Topeka.

She was born April 24, 1960, in Topeka, the daughter of Irving and Inez (Dodds) Shopteese. She obtained her GED and attended Haskell University in Lawrence.

She was a member of the Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation in Mayetta.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Irving and Inez; a son, Derek “Wabski” R. Shopteese; a brother, Randall Shopteese; and a sister, Linda Zephier.

Survivors include two daughters, Jana Shopteese and Jennifer Wood, both of Topeka; four sons, Jesse Kitterman, Kansas City, Mo., Jason Wood, Topeka, Joshua Kitterman, Galena, Mo., and Nigel Matchie, Topeka; two brothers, Dennis Shopteese, Topeka, and Irving Shopteese, Mayetta; 14 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 27 at the Danceground Cemetery. Ms. Shopteese will lie in state from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 26 at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton.
