Verna Ramage 1933-2024
Verna Marie Ramage, 90, Holton, formerly of Hoyt, died Monday, May 20, 2024, at Lexington Park Nursing Home in Topeka.
She was born Nov. 5, 1933, in Blanchard, Okla., the daughter of Samuel and Nancy Taylor Anderson.
Mrs. Ramage worked as a cook for Hoyt schools. She later worked in the deli at Bauersfeld Grocery in Topeka.
She was a member of the Hoyt United Methodist Church, and the Hoyt and Holton senior centers.
She married Fred “Bud” Ramage on Jan. 2, 1949, in Quartzite, Ariz. He preceded her in death on Aug. 1, 2018.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; a son, Johnny Ramage, stillborn; and her siblings, Kathy Donn, Donald Anderson, Jimmy Anderson, David Anderson, Robert Anderson and Freddie Anderson.
Survivors include her children, Michael Ramage and wife Carrie, Topeka, Patricia Terry and husband Paul, Silver Lake, and Dennis Ramage and wife Joni and Janice Matchie and husband Roland, all of Holton; a brother, Charles Anderson, Yucaipa, Calif.; three sisters, Marybelle Stickman, Elk, Wash., Glenda Grant, Hoyt, and Betty Holt, Holton; 12 grandchildren; and numerous great- and great-great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, June 3 at Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Hoyt. Burial will follow in Hoyt Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
