Velma White 1943-2024

Velma Carole White, 80, Holton, died peacefully Tuesday, June 25, 2024, at Holton Community Hospital with family by her side.

Carole was born July 9, 1943, in Hazard, Ky., the daughter of Buster and Velma Victoria Cornett.

She graduated from McNeese State University in Lake Charles, La., with a bachelor’s degree. Her working career was spent in the medical field. She was a nurse, taught nursing, was in hospital management and finally ended her career working with hospice.

She is survived by her daughter, Kendra White, Holton; a sister, Peggy Cornett and husband Chris Morash, Charlottesville, Va.; her life partner, Garry Bowles, Holton; and his daughter Beth Kensinger and husband David, Topeka, and their children Thomas, James and Sam.

The family will hold a private celebration of life. Memorial donations can be made to the local hospice organization.
