Truman Hug 1921-2015

 

Truman E. Hug, 93, rural Mayetta, died Friday, Jan. 16, 2015, at Medicalodges Jackson County in Holton.

He was born March 24, 1921, near Soldier, the son of Albert and Esther Partridge Hug. He graduated from Mayetta High School.

Mr. Hug was a farmer and stockman, raising dairy cattle, beef and hogs. He also worked at Good­year Tire and Rubber in Topeka.

He was a member of Denison Reformed Presbyterian Church and a deacon at the church.

He married Helen M. McCrory on Aug. 18, 1945, at Denison. She survives.

Other survivors include a son, Darrell Hug and wife Ellen, Mayetta; two daughters, Phyllis Phillips and husband Ralph, Mayetta, and Yvonne Hamer, Denison; a brother, Keith Hug, Mayetta; a sister, Dorothy Bausch, Hoyt; 12 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren with two more on the way; and two great-great-grand­children. He was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Theo Hamer.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Denison Reformed Presbyterian Church. Burial will follow in Denison Cemetery. Mr. Hug will lie in state at Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Holton, where family and friends will meet from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. to­day.
