Tim Figgs 1935-2017

 

Eddie Walter “Tim” Figgs, 81, Hoyt, died Friday, June 23, 2017, at Midland Care at Linnwood Park Assisted Living at Valley Falls.

He was born Dec. 24, 1935, at Boyle, east of Valley Falls, the son of John and Jane Edna Fletcher Figgs. He graduated from Valley Falls High School in 1953.

Mr. Figgs served in the U.S Army. He worked for AT&T in Topeka, retiring after 35 years of service.

He married Avis Cain on Feb. 21, 1959, at Louisville, Ky. She survives.

Other survivors include two sons, Jack Figgs and wife Ally, Topeka, and Daylan Figgs and wife Paula, Fort Collins, Colo.; a daughter, Kristine Brunton and husband Kevin, Topeka; a brother, Jack Figgs, Topeka; six grandchil­dren, Zachary and Nathaniel Figgs, Heath and Levi Brunton and Ethan and Kelseigh Figgs; and a great-grandchild due later this year. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Steve, George, Don and John Figgs; a sister, Johann Forrestt; and a grandson, Matthew Figgs.

Memorial graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 14 in Valley Falls Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted by Gra­hem-Herbers Post 3084, Veterans of Foreign Wars. Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thurs­day, July 13 at Mercer Funeral Home in Valley Falls.

Memorial contributions may be made to Jackson County Home Health, Jackson County Friends of Hospice or the Midland Care at Linnwood Park Assisted Living at Valley Falls Activity Fund, sent in care of Mercer Funeral Home, P.O. Box 6, Valley Falls, KS 66088.
