Terry Slater 1950-2024

Terry Ann Slater, 74, Mayetta, died Friday, Aug. 23, 2024, surrounded by family.

She was born April 23, 1950, in Holton, the daughter of Clarence R. Jr, and Irma J. Campbell Wooten. She graduated from Onaga High School in 1968.

Mrs. Slater worked for various tribal governments as a project manager for Native American communities.

She was a member of the Iowa Tribe and attended the Mayetta and Circleville Christian churches.

She married Larry A. Slater on June 23, 1968, at the Christian Church in Havensville. He survives.

Other survivors include two sons, Lucas Slater and Mathew Slater, both of Mayetta; four daughters, Angela Strube and husband Kevin, Horton, Missty Slater, Hoyt, Annie Slater, Holton, and Lisa Potts and husband Mi-kes, Mayetta; 13 grandchildren, Kasey, Korby, Katelin, Juliet, Nanin, Woksha, Hunny, Clarence, Tte-mko, Wabmo’ew, Skup, Leola and Nanokashi; and four great-grandchildren, Hudson, Sierra, Chandler and Bentley.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 28 at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Burial will follow in Holton Cemetery. Family will greet friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
