Steven Leuthold 1944-2019
Steven Lee Leuthold passed away on Wednesday, May 8, 2019, at the VA Hospice House, Jefferson Barracks, St. Louis, Mo.
Steve was born on Sept. 28, 1944, in Holton to W.J. and Anna Carolyn (Karns) Leuthold. He graduated from Soldier High School in 1962 and Kansas State University in 1968 with a degree in Architecture. After graduation he served in the U.S. Army as an E5 Sergeant and was stationed in Vietnam.
He married Edith M Dickinson on Aug. 11, 1967. They later divorced.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by three children, Kathy (Derek) Bissitt, Leavenworth, Christie Leuthold, Canandaigua, N.Y., and William (Erin) Leuthold, Philadelphia, Pa.; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three sisters, Dixie (David) McAndrews Gibbs, Surprise, Ariz., Mary (Gary) Eisenbarth, Kerrville, Texas, and Sue (Don) Thiemann, Manhattan; a brother, Wilbert Jr. (Stephanie) Leuthold, Blackhawk, S.D.; many nieces and nephews; and Joseph Rogers, a close life friend.
Steve was a gifted artist, especially favoring pottery. He crafted many special pieces. He worked as an architect in Topeka. Later he farmed in the Soldier area.
Interment will be held in the Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St Louis, Mo., at a later date.
