Sheryl Leech 1943-2024
Sheryl Faye Leech, 80, Maryville, Tenn., formerly of Holton, died Monday, July 1, 2024, in Maryville.
She was born Sept. 16, 1943, in Norton, the daughter of Julius W. and Doris E. Standish Goltz. She grew up in Holton, attending Colorado Elementary School and graduating from Holton High School with the class of 1961.
Sherry was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, John, of the home; a son, John Robert “Rob” Leech (Patricia) of Clayton, Del.; a daughter, Kimberly Dunn (Brian) of Seymour, Tenn.; a brother, Barry Goltz of Colorado Springs, Colo.; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Sherry and John were married on Sept. 12, 1964, and lived in Topeka until 1988, relocating to Maryville, Tenn., where they remained. Sherry worked in banking in Topeka and Maryville, helping put John through pharmacy school at The University of Kansas and earning his master’s degree at Johnson Bible College in Tennessee. She also partnered with John, owning and running a pharmacy in Eastboro and then in Falley’s both in Topeka.
Sherry was foremost a loving wife, mother, “nana” and a faithful follower or her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Sadly, her golden years were taken from her, as she suffered from Alzheimer’s disease for too many years.
Graveside services were held Saturday, July 6 at Eusebia Cemetery in Seymour, Tenn. Atchley Funeral Home in Seymour is in charge of arrangements.
