Sharon Shobney 1947-2026

Sharon Sue Shobney, 78, Hoyt, died Monday, March 30, 2026, at her home.

She was born July 16, 1947, in Emporia, the daughter of Albert M. and Lillian Ruth Humphrey Dicks. She graduated from Topeka High School and earned her bachelor’s degree in social work from Washburn University.

Mrs. Shobney worked many years for the State of Kansas in the Department of Children and Family Services.

She married Jerry Denzler Sr.; they divorced. She married Michael J. Shobney on Aug. 3, 1996, in Delia; he died Jan. 21, 2019. She was also preceded in death by her parents and a son, Derek D. Denzler.

Survivors include a son, Jerry L. Denzler Jr., Hoyt; a daughter, Heather S. Nicholas and husband Cris, Mayetta; and a grandson, Teryn Denzler.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 3 at Memorial Park Cemetery in Topeka.
