Sallyann Strawn 1934-2023
Sallyann Goldie Strawn, 89, of Denison, passed away Sunday, Nov. 12, 2023, at her home in Denison.
She was born July 4, 1934, in Netawaka, the daughter of George P. and Lola M. (Streeter) Cashman.
Sallyann graduated from Wetmore High School in 1952. After high school, she worked as a seamstress for Slimaker Dress Factory. Sallyann also worked for Knouse & Sons Accounting Firm in Horton and for Fernkopf Meat Processing Plant in Holton.
Sallyann was a member of the Order of Eastern Star.
On Oct. 16, 1955, Sallyann married Robert “Bob” W. Strawn in Denison. They celebrated 62 years of marriage before Bob passed away on April 15, 2018.
Survivors include three sons, Daniel A. Strawn of Ava, Mo., Noel W. Strawn (Maria) of Jacksonville, N.C., and John E. Strawn (Cindy) of Holton; a daughter, Janet F. Billquist of Holton; a sister, Shirley Martin of Kansas City, Mo.; a sister-in-law, Sarah DeVader of Holton; 14 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert; son, James Strawn; seven siblings, Georgia McAfee, Marjorie Jane Voelker, Beatrice F. Couch, Mary Cashman, Duane Cashman, Dennis Cashman and John Cashman; and brothers-in-law, Roger DeVader and Curt Strawn.
A memorial graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 29 at the Denison Cemetery.
