Sadie Waupoose 1934-2016

 

Sadie Mae Waupoose (Sha-no-qua), 81, Topeka, died Thursday, April 14, 2016, at Stormont-Vail Regional Medical Center.

She was born July 8, 1934 in Ke­shena, Wisc., the daughter, Fred Wayne and Susie Notinokey Spoone. She received an associ­ate’s degree in secretarial science at Haskell Junior College in Law­rence.

Ms. Waupoose had worked for various casinos in Kansas and Wis­consin.

She was a member of the Menominee Tribe in Keshena, Wisc.

Survivors include six daughters, Anna Heath, Hayward, Wisc., Louise Varga and Sonja Petonquot, both of Appleton, Wisc., Vanessa Stone, Green Bay, Wisc., and Vic­toria Stone and Hope Waupoose, both of Topeka; a son, Albert J. Waupoose III, Topeka; a sister, Rhoda Mae Cadue, Horton, KS; 19 grandchildren and 15 great-grand­children.            

Graveside services were held Monday morning at Mitchell Cemetery on the Potawatomi Res­ervation.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Sadie Mae Waupoose Memorial Fund, to be designated later and sent in care of Mercer Fu­neral Home, P.O. Box 270, Holton, KS 66436.
