Roxie McConnaughey 1943-2026

Roxie Ann McConnaughey, 82, of Holton, passed away Friday, Jan. 2, 2026, at the Pines in Holton.

She was born on Oct. 29, 1943, in Holton, the daughter of Eugene and Phyllis (Desbien) Meier.

Roxie graduated from Holton High School in 1962. She was a stay-at-home mom until her children were older, then she worked at Hallmark Cards in Topeka, until retiring from there in 2008.

On Feb. 27, 1965, she married James (Jim) F. McConnaughey. They later divorced.

Survivors include a sister, Pauline (Brad) Metzger of Weston, Mo.; children, Julie (Tim) Dugan of Holton and Doug (Jodi) McConnaughey of Topeka; four grandchildren, Tiffany Dugan of Sedalia, Mo., Tavin (Akia) Dugan of Leavenworth, and Mason McConnaughey and Matthew McConnaughey, both of Topeka; and two great-grandchildren, Talhia and Torin Dugan of Topeka.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Judith, in infancy; and a brother, Marlin Meier.

A celebration of life will be held Sunday, Feb. 1 at the VFW Building in Holton from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. with private graveside services on Monday, Feb. 2 at Mount Calvary Cemetery, Holton.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Roxie’s memory to Faith Home Health and Hospice, 103 W. Fourth St., Holton, KS 66436.
