Rose Hladky 1940-2021

Rose Marie Hladky, 80, of Soldier, passed away Thursday, April 29, 2021, at her home with family by her side.

She was born Aug. 21, 1940, in Holton, the daughter of Roy J. and Arlene (Gunselman) Moore.

Rose graduated from Holton High School in 1958. She worked as a CNA at Holton Hospital in the 1970s. She worked as secretary for Jackson County Storm Spotters for more than 22 years. She also worked at various restaurants, including Coach House Café, Sharp’s Diner and S&A Café. She retired from Walmart after 10 years. Rose took pride as a homemaker, mom and grandma.

Rose married Bailey Edward “Boots” Hladky on June 6, 1959, in Holton. They celebrated more than 61 years of marriage.

Survivors include her husband, Bailey “Boots” of the home; four daughters, Lisa Allen of Soldier, Esther K. Essary of Holton, Sherri A. Immenschuh “Larry” of Soldier and Jada L. Arnold (James) of Muskogee, Okla.; a son, Roy L. Hladky (Gertrud) of Germany; three sisters, Elaine Torbett of Atchison, Mary Mick of Holton and Teresa Emmons (Myron) of Horton; a brother, Joseph “Joe” Moore (Jackie) of York, Neb.; 20 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Arlene Moore; son, Larry Hladky, on Feb. 28, 2020; and two brothers, William “Bill” and James “Jim” Moore.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 3 at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Burial will follow in Olive Hill Cemetery. Family will greet friends from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
