Ronald Dick 1932-2021

Ronald Keith Dick, 89, Holton, died Sunday, Oct. 24, 2021, at Vintage Park in Holton.

He was born Feb. 2, 1932, in Circleville, the son of William Green and Goldie Mae Freel Dick. He graduated from Wetmore High School in 1949.

Mr. Dick served in the U.S. Air Force from 1952 to 1956 during the Korean War, spending three years in Germany. He was a farmer and stockman all of his life. He drove school buses for 20 years at Meriden and Mayetta schools. 

He was a member of Potawatomi United Methodist Church since 1966, serving as treasurer and long-term trustee. He was a member of the American Legion and also served several years as a member of the Jackson County Co-op Board. 

He married Ilene Etelyn Hofmann on June 9, 1957, at the Hofmann home in Ozawkie. She survives.

Other survivors include a daughter, Lori Beth Gillis, Holton; a son, James Alan Dick, Topeka; and a sister, Virginia Sue Wesley, Manhattan.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Goldie Dick; and a daughter, Jodi Kay Dick, at age 4. 

Private graveside services with military honors will be held Friday, Oct. 29 in Holton Cemetery. Masks are mandatory. Mr. Dick will lie in state Wednesday and Thursday at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton.
