Ronald Cobb 1941-2025

Ronald Eugene Cobb, 83, Topeka, died Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at Oakley Place in Topeka.

He was born Oct. 28, 1941, in Holton, the son of Gilbert Barnard and Dorothy J. Hickman Cobb. He graduated from Holton High School in 1959.

Mr. Cobb served in the U.S. Navy from 1960 to 1964 aboard the USS Mullany and later worked for more than 40 years at Dupont/Flexel, retiring in 2008 as supervisor.

He was a member of Countryside Christian Church and American Legion Post 421, both in Topeka, and a member of Holton VFW Post 1367.

He married Marjorie A. Lollar on Jan. 23, 1965 in Topeka. She survives.

Other survivors include two daughters, Ronnita Shandy and husband David, Olathe, and Brenda Diveley and husband Dean, Highland; two brothers, Gary Cobb and wife Ruby, Richmond, Mo., and James “Jim” Cobb, Woodstock, N.Y.; five grandchildren, Joshua Shandy and wife Allison, Nicholas Shandy and wife Elizabeth, Marshall Diveley and wife Brittany, Aisha Mitchell and husband Jarret and Stetson Diveley; and seven great-grandchildren, Aspen Shandy, Samuel Shandy, Clara Shandy, Emery Mitchell, Jeremiah Mitchell, Nora-Jane Mitchell and Clayton Mitchell.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gilbert and Dorothy Cobb; a sister, Judy E. Webster; and a great-granddaughter, Gwendolyn Shandy.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 27 at Countryside Christian Church in Topeka. Family will greet friends one hour prior to service time. Burial with military honors will follow at 3 p.m. in Holton Cemetery. Mercer Funeral Home in Holton is in charge of arrangements.
