Robert Hubbard 1950-2025
Robert “Bob” Carl “Tatani” Hubbard, 74, of Mayetta, passed away Sunday, March 16, 2025, at St. Francis Hospital in Topeka.
He was born December 31, 1950 in Topeka, KS the son of Chester A. and Mary (LaClair) Hubbard.
Bob graduated from Marty Indian School High School in Marty, S.D., and attended two years at Haskell Indian Nations University. He proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.
He worked for more than 10 years at Goodyear Tire Company and King Radio Manufacturing. He later retired after more than 30 years from Haskell Indian Nations University as facility maintenance at the health center.
Bob was a member of the Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation. He was a member of the Drum Religion. He enjoyed softball, bowling, pool, riding motorcycles and attending his grandchildren’s activities.
He married Janice S. Hubbard on Aug. 14, 1970. They later divorced after 30 years of marriage.
Survivors include his children, Oshpuk S. Hubbard of Lawrence, Mahnee R. Hubbard and Erin “Kumos” L. Hubbard, both of Mayetta, and Nes “Adelaide” V. Hubbard and Pami D. Hubbard, both of Lawrence; companion, Anita Beaver-Daney of Okmulgee, Okla.; sister, Antoinette Smith (Stanley) of Emilia, Ohio; two brothers, Clifford Hubbard (Ellen) of Kansas City, Mo., and Hardy Eteeyan of Mayetta; 13 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Chester and Mary Hubbard; sister, Mayme Mattaoshshe; and three brothers, Delmar Hubbard Packska, Galen E. “Sal” Hubbard and Anthony H. Hubbard.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 20 at the Danceground Building. Burial with military honors will follow at Shipshee Cemetery. Bob will lie in state from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton with wake to follow at Danceground Building.
