Robert Deinlein 1948-2023

Robert E. Deinlein, 75, Holton, died Monday, Oct. 23, 2023, in Topeka.

He was born Sept. 1, 1948, in Mexico, Mo., the son of Ray O. and Katherine E. Stevenson Deinlein. He was orphaned at a young age and grew up in an orphanage until he was 14.

Mr. Deinlein joined the U.S. Army in 1968 during the Vietnam War, serving three tours of duty in Vietnam from 1968 to 1975 and earning the Bronze Star. He later joined the U.S. Navy and retired from military service in 1982.

He married Bonnie Elaine Gleason in Topeka in 2015. In recent years, Bob and Bonnie lived at Village Villa Care Facility in Nortonville and Medicalodges in Holton. She survives.

Other survivors include a sister-in-law, Coila Rush.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 30 at Keene Cemetery in Keene. Mercer Funeral Home in Holton is in charge of arrangements.
