Richard Mannell 1941-2017

 

Richard David Mannell, 76, Holton, died Monday, March 20, 2017, at a Houston hospital.

He was born Feb. 3, 1941, in Peru, Ind., the son of Kenneth Rob­ert and Dolly Elizabeth Rogers Mannell. He graduated from Holton High School in 1959.

Mr. Mannell worked as a control mechanic for DuPont/Flexel in Topeka for more than 35 years. He later worked as a slot technician for Harrah's Prairie Band Casino.

He was a member of Evangel United Methodist Church in Holton. He also had been a member of the Holton Country Club and the 16-75ers Square Dance Club.

He married Virginia Ann Springer on April 22, 1960, in Wetmore. She survives.

Other survivors include three daughters, Robin Carley and hus­band George, Bixby, Okla., Laura Stauffer and husband Kevin, Holton, and Cindy Finch and hus­band Darrel, Lyndon; a son, David Mannell and wife Laura, Topeka; a sister, Nelda King and husband Bill, Manhattan; a brother, Stanley J. Mannell and wife Baltie, Holton; 11 grandchildren, Jacob, Zachary and Luke Carley, Danielle Korte, Jennifer Nixon, Marissa Coyle, Andrew and Robert Mannell, Adam Stauffer, Ellie Klepees and Kenley Stauffer; and six great-grandchildren, Jordan and Landon Korte, Hunter Carley and David, Dante and Natalia Stauffer. He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, John Mannell; and two brothers, Raymond Mannell and Kenneth Mannell Jr.

Celebration of life services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Evangel United Methodist Church Family Life Center. Mr. Mannell will lie in state at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton, where family will greet friends from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Thursday.
