Rhonda Doud 1970-2025
Rhonda Kay Doud, 55, of Holton, passed away Friday, Nov. 28, 2025, at Stormont-Vail Regional Medical Center in Topeka, after a courageous and fierce battle with cancer. Rhonda was able to spend her final moments surrounded by her family.
She was born April 28, 1970, in Atchison, the daughter of Charles Brook and Sharon Faye (Hartley) Bestwick.
Rhonda graduated from Holton High School in 1989. She worked for more than 20 years as a cook at the Prairie Band Casino. She was known for her strong work ethic, dedication, determination and warm presence.
Rhonda loved all animals. However, she had a very special place in her heart for her cats. She frequently donated all kinds of toys, blankets and pet supplies to numerous animal shelters in the area.
Rhonda is survived by her fiancé, David Fiedler, of the home; her daughter Elizabeth “Lizzie” Poell (Justin) of Topeka; her grandchildren Dean and Emma; her son Matthew Doud, also of Topeka; her sister Jenny (Jim Brassfield) Baker; her brothers Ronnie Brook and Kevin (Kristen) Brook; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Phil and Sharon Bestwick.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 6 at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Burial will follow at the Albany Cemetery, which is located north of Sabetha. The family will greet friends from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 5 at the funeral home. Rhonda will lie in state from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 4 at the funeral home.
