Reeva Plummer 1933-2023

Reeva Rae Plummer, 90, of Holton, passed away Thursday, Nov. 30, 2023, at Midland Hospice House in Topeka.

She was born July 24, 1933, in Bern, the daughter of Raymond E. and Golda L. (Baumgartner) Miller. 

Reeva graduated from Bern High School and attended Ottawa University. She lived in the Holton community for more than 56 years. Reeva worked for the federal government, retiring from the Farmers Home Administration. 

She was a member of the Hoyt Baptist Church. Reeva was a children’s Sunday school teacher most of her adult life and was a devoted pianist until she physically could not continue. She also enjoyed baking and playing the piano and was an avid gardener.  

Reeva married Gaylord Ward Plummer on Dec. 21, 1952, in Bern. He preceded her in death on Jan. 10, 1997, after more than 44 years of marriage. Reeva was a dedicated preacher’s wife. She was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Carrie. 

Survivors include her two children, Darrel Plummer of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Gaylene Cook of Topeka; a sister, Twila Fae Rosenow of Grinnell, Iowa; four grandchildren, Erik, Elle, Aaron and Christy; and two great-grandchildren, Maverick and Beau. 

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 9 at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Burial will follow in Bern Cemetery. Family will greet friends one hour prior to service time.
