Ramona Robinson 1934-2026
Ramona Mary Robinson, 91, of Holton, passed away Sunday, June 21, 2026, at Homestead of Holton.
She was born Aug. 27, 1934, in Delia, the daughter of Henry and Inez (Hladky) DeVader.
Ramona was a homemaker and a farmer’s wife. The farming life kept her busy as well as keeping her three kids in line. She enjoyed raising Airedales for several years; planted trees, bushes and gardens creating beauty. She loved horses and was proud to ride her horse “Whiskey” in the Mayetta Parade along with her daughter Deb, riding on Lady Q, and not as thrilled to be there. She enjoyed fishing and allowed others to bait her hooks.
There were a lot of big black snakes where we lived; mom wasn’t fond of those. One long snake came slithering down a large tree that was in front of the kitchen window; a scream was heard and unfortunately the tree didn’t last long after that. Shopping was a necessity and a time for visiting with people. Sale items caught her eye as she watched them being marked down several times before purchasing.
She could be seen tapping her foot to old time country and blue grass music. Old westerns and Mash were some favorite TV shows. She looked forward to family gatherings, especially during the holidays, catching up on each other’s lives, eating good food and enjoying children’s laughter. Her faith was strong and precious to her; she constantly prayed for others. She took care of older people, visiting them often and letting them know they weren’t forgotten, but cherished. She is forever free and surrounded by love.
She was a member of the St. Dominic Catholic Church in Holton and St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Mayetta.
Ramona married Dean Edward Robinson on Oct. 13, 1951, in Holton. He passed away on Jan. 7, 2023, after 71 years of marriage. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Renetta Vaught; her brothers, Raymond, Richard “Dick,” Francis and Roger DeVader; her sisters-in-law, Edna, Doris and Joyce DeVader; her brother-in-law, Ralph Martin; and her infant granddaughter, Misty Robinson.
She is survived by her son, Randy Robinson (Kathy) of Mayetta; her daughters, Vicky Robinson of Salina and Deb Robinson (Dani) of St. Petersburg, Fla.; her sister, Rosalie Boling (Delbert) of Hoyt; her brother, Robert DeVader of California; her sisters-in-law, Mary DeVader and Sarah DeVader, both of Holton; her grandchildren, Steven, Rhayme (Jeff), Theresa, Breanna, Katie and Wes; several great-grandchildren; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors.
Private family services will be held at a later date.
