Phyllis Tudor 1924-2015

A celebration of the life of Phyllis Watkins Tudor, 91, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 5, at the Overbrook United Methodist Church. She died Friday, Aug. 14 at Brookside Manor in Overbrook.
She was born June 4, 1924, in Shelby County, Ohio, the fourth of five daughters of Philemon Allen and Elizabeth Pfisterer Watkins. She attended schools in rural Ohio, graduating from Jackson Center High School in 1942. On May 13, 1944, she was married to William G. Tudor, who was serving in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Together they served Evangelical United Brethren and United Methodist churches in Batavia, Ill.; Drummond, Okla.; and Leonardville (along with Green, Bethany-Hillside and Countryside), Holton and Overbrook. The Rev. and Mrs. Tudor served the Evangel United Methodist Church in Holton from 1967 to 1982 before moving to Overbrook, where they retired in 1989.
Phyllis served as church secretary, taught Sunday school for many years and was active with the United Methodist Women. With her husband, she led many "Tudor Tours," taking church groups of youth and adults on trips to every state in the continental U.S. plus Alaska and Canada. She proudly completed the Menninger Bible Study course in 1971.
She is survived by her husband, Bill, of Overbrook; two sons, Bill (Lorie) of Wilmington, Del., and Steve (Nancy) of Topeka; and two daughters, Phyllis (Ed) Daniels of Fort Worth, Texas, and Imozelle (Jim) McVeigh of San Diego, Calif.
She is also survived by her grandchildren, Martha (Fred) McFarland, Anna (Tim) West, William C. (Miranda) Tudor, Chelle (Jeff) Reiff, Stephanie (Brian) Wolf, Betsy Tudor, Michelle (Mark) Stoddard, Gwendelyn Daniels, Kristina (John) Sprey and Kevin Daniels; and great-grandchildren, Ruth McFarland, Caleb, Austin, Emily and Paige Tudor, Garrett, Karlie and Ethan Stephens, David and Tara Norton; Sean Stoddard, Cody Wolf, Zachary and Justin Lum, Kaitlyn, Zane and Taylor Sprey, and Cadence Daniels. One sister, Miriam Lescalleet of Zanesfield, Ohio, also survives, along with many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Forest Park Foundation or the church of your choice. Lamb-Roberts Funeral Home in Ottawa is in charge of arrangements.
