Phil Wingender 1941-2024

Phillip Jacob Wingender, 82, of Onaga, formerly of Holton, passed away Thursday, May 16, 2024, at ANew Healthcare in Holton.
He was born Sept. 24, 1941. in Leavenworth, the son of Samuel A. and Lilah J. (LaBarge) Wingender.
Phil grew up in Leavenworth. He was an over the road truck driver for more than 50 years. From 1994 to 2003 he was owner and operator of The Coach House Truck Stop.
He was a member of Teamsters Local 41 in Kansas City.
Phil married Joann Perry in 1960; they later divorced in 1981. He married Bonnie Jean Hunt in 1988; she preceded him in death in 1990. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Lilah Wingender; a daughter, Cynthia Jane Wingender; a granddaughter, Taylor Pettit; long-time companion, Carole Hainline; a brother, Samuel P. Wingender; and a sister, Marilyn Ann Bigelow.
Survivors include his guardian angel, Lori Kuker of Auburn, Neb.; a daughter, Barbara Parker (Ed) of Lincoln, Neb.; two sons, Phillip J. Wingender Jr. of Holton and Michael D. Wingender (Jennifer) of Everest; and many grandchildren, too numerous to mention.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 20 at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Burial will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Leavenworth.
