Pete Deppe 1936-2024

Lovelle W. “Pete” Deppe, 88, Topeka, died Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2024, at Midland Hospice House in Topeka.

He was born March 17, 1936, in Denison, the son of Harry and Edna Myers Deppe. He graduated from Denison High School in 1954.

Mr. Deppe worked for Santa Fe Railroad from 1954 to 2001, retiring as an assistant general foreman.

He was a member of Ozawkie American Legion Post 225.

He married Delores J. “Dee” Deppe on March 15, 1956, in Holton. She survives.

Other survivors include a son, Terry L. Deppe, Mayetta; a daughter, Tonya L. Simecka and husband Mark, Ozawkie; five grandchildren, Cody Lee, Dustin Lee, Lucas, Anthony and Sarah; seven great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Edna Deppe; a sister, Donna Schmalbeck; a brother, Merle Deppe; and a grandson, Ryan Simecka.

Family will greet friends 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 15 at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Private family inurnment will be held at a later date in Holton Cemetery.
