Paul Shipman 1939-2026

Paul Delmar Shipman, 86, Topeka, died Thursday, Jan. 29, 2026, at St. Francis Hospital in Topeka.

He was born Aug. 11, 1939, in Montreal, Mo., the son of Gail and Mary Barker Shipman. He graduated from Hoyt High School.

Mr. Shipman served in the U.S. Army in Germany in the 1960s. He was a truck driver with Teamsters Local 696.

He was a member of Elmont United Methodist Church. He was also a member of Hoyt Masonic Lodge until it closed, then Mayetta Masonic Lodge, for a total of more than 50 years. He and his wife also delivered Meals On Wheels for more than 20 years.

He married Carol Bostwick on April 5, 1959, at Hoyt United Methodist Church. She survives.

Other survivors include two daughters, Linda Anno and husband Danny, Hoyt, and Sheryl Barnett and husband Andy, Valley Falls; and a grandson, Wyatt Barnett. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother, James Shipman.

A celebration of life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 4 at Hoyt United Methodist Church. Inurnment will follow in Hoyt Cemetery.
