Opal Adams 1927-2016

 

Opal Irene Adams, 89, Centralia, formerly of Holton and Corning, died Sunday, Oct. 23, 2016, at Eastridge Nursing Home.

She was born Aug. 26, 1927, in Goff, the daughter of Everton and Hulda Bareiss Bell. She graduated from Goff High School in 1945. She had lived in Corning for 30 years and also lived in Holton from 1999 to 2004.

Mrs. Adams was a homemaker. She had also worked in the cafe at the Onaga Sale Barn and was also a custodian at Corning United Meth­odist Church.

She was a member of Circleville United Methodist Church. She was also past president of American Legion Auxiliary in Corning and United Methodist Women at Goff United Methodist Church.

She married Raymond Earl Ad­ams on Sept. 13, 1946, in Hiawatha. He died June 11, 2010. She was also preceded in death by an infant son, Eugene Adams; a daughter, Bonnie Jean Adams; a grandson, Jason L. Adams; and three brothers, Alvin, Noble and Lawrence Bell.

Survivors include a son, Roger Adams and wife Judy, Corning; three brothers, Earl Bell and wife Elsie, Iola, Roy Bell and wife Pasty, Seneca, and Gary Bell and wife Carolyn, Holton; three grand­children, Brenda Quigley and hus­band Ron, Corning, Ryan Adams and wife Melissa, Topeka, and Janelle Stockwell and husband Jim, Lenexa; a granddaughter-in-law, Laura Conley and husband Jeremy, Havensville; and nine great-grand­children, Noah, Dawson, Taegan, Camden, Damon, Delaney, Lan­don, Adalei and Hailee.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery at Goff. Family will greet friends from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday.
