Michael Spiker 1949-2017
Micheal Spiker, 68, Wetmore, died Thursday, Sept. 7, 2017 at Stormont Vail Hospital.
He was born Jan. 10, 1949, in Holton, the son of Melvin “Pete” and Norma Grubb Spiker. He graduated from Wetmore High School in 1968.
Mr. Spiker worked as a welder for Rockwell International in Atchison for more than 18 years.
He was a member of Wetmore United Methodist Church.
He married Sharon A. Swanson on Dec. 23, 1998, in Hiawatha. She survives.
Other survivors include eight children, Jamie Spiker, Olathe, Jared Spiker and wife Amy, Holton, Paula Henry and husband Alan, Wetmore, Dawna O’Dell and husband Brian, Netawaka, Janette Fund and husband Jeremy, Delia, Jennifer Cochran, Centralia, J.R. Spiker and wife Blair, Alma, and John Cochran and wife Michelle, Wetmore; 16 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Cynthia Ann Spiker; and a brother, Patrick Ralph Spiker.
Inurnment will be held at a later date.
