Maurice Rice 1924-2017

Maurice Ernest Rice, 92, Emmett, died Monday, Oct. 23, 2017, at Ona ga Health and Rehabilitation.

He was born Dec. 8, 1924, in Delphos, the son of Murry E. and Everine Carls Rice.

Mr. Rice lived most of his life in Emmett as a farmer and stockman.

He married Fern H. Hinkle on Oct. 10, 1954, in Parsons. She died Oct. 11, 2012. He was also preceded in death by a son, Larry Rice; a daughter-in-law, Sondra Rice; two sisters, Florence Bottom and Maurine Settles; and a brother, William Rice.

Survivors include two sons, Jerry Rice, Bern, and Ernest Rice and wife Penny, Havensville; a daughter-in-law, Katrina Rice, Topeka; a brother, Louis Rice, Havensville; 10 grand children; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Burial will follow in St. Clere Cemetery. Family will greet friends from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Friday.
