Mary Mick 1949-2024
Mary M. Mick, 75, of Holton, died Monday, June 17, 2024, at Midland Hospice House in Topeka.
She was born March 21, 1949, in Holton the daughter of Roy J. and Arlene (Gunselman) Moore. She graduated from Soldier High School in 1968.
Mrs. Mick was a homemaker, a crossing guard and lunch room attendant for many years for USD 336 at Central Elementary School and owned her own lawn care business.
Mary married Dean Adair Mick Sr. on June 1, 1968. He died Oct. 29, 2020. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Arlene Moore; a stepson, Dennis Mick; a grandson, Jessie Mick; an infant great-grandson; two sisters, Elaine Torbett and Rose Hladky; and three brothers, Joseph “Joe,” William “Bill” and James “Jim” Moore.
Survivors include a son, Dean A. Mick Jr. and wife Amy, Holton; a sister, Teresa Emmons and husband Myron, Horton; five grandchildren, Kyle Mick, Britney Achten and husband Aaron, Tyler Mick and wife Lauryn, Matt Mick and Ramsey Mick; a great-grandson, Asher Achten; a stepdaughter, Gail Taliaferro, Holton; three stepsons, Francis Mick and wife Kathy, Derby, Keith Mick and wife Kathy, Circleville, and Rowdy Mick and wife Marsha, Fairview; 12 stepgrandchildren; and numerous stepgreat-grandchildren and stepgreat-great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Mick will lie in state from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, June 23 and Monday, June 24 at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Private family burial for Mary and Dean Sr. will be held at a later date at Olive Hill Cemetery.
