Mary Doyle 1926-2016
Mary Erma Doyle, 89, Holton, died Saturday, May 28, 2016, at Medicalodges Jackson County in Holton.
She was born Sept. 17, 1926, in Arrington, the daughter of Jacob Richard and Helen Littleton Eckert. She graduated from Topeka High School in 1944.
Mrs. Doyle worked at Woolworth and as a telephone operator, both in Topeka. She also worked for Ron’s IGA in Holton and was a farmwife.
She was a member of St. Dominic Catholic Church, St. Dominic Altar Society, VFW Auxiliary, Larkinburg Ladies Aid and Holton Business Women.
She married Joseph Leo Doyle on Sept. 17, 1946, at Holy Name Catholic Church in Topeka. He died Feb. 16, 2015. She also was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Jo Doyle-Fitch, in 2011; a brother, Richard Eckert, in 2009; and two sisters, Nellie Freed, in 2006, and Helen Marcelene Marinich, in 2009.
Survivors include two daughters, Shirley Mick and husband Kermit, Holton, and Cherrie Kehler and husband David, El Dorado; two sons, Lee Doyle and wife Pam and Dan Doyle and wife Pat, all of Holton; a sister, Marjorie Sage, Olympia, Wash.; 14 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian burial was held Wednesday morning at St. Dominic Catholic Church in Holton. Burial followed in Mount Calvary Cemetery in Holton.
