Mary Anderson 1942-2024

Mary Dell Anderson, 82, of Holton, passed away on Friday, Dec. 13, 2024, at the Midland Hospice House in Topeka after a fierce battle with cancer. If you do not recognize that name, do not fret, you probably knew her, as nearly everyone did, as Nannie.
She was born April 28, 1942 in Mena, Ark., the daughter of Lenard and Nerene (Price) Liles. She graduated from Acorn High School in Mena, Ark., in 1960.
Mary Dell was an active member of the Mayetta United Methodist Church, serving many years as the delegate for the annual Methodist Church Conference. She proudly served her community as an election attendant in Denison. She was regularly seen at her grandchildren’s events, including sports, horse shows, dog shows and more. She always had her current crochet project on her lap, an afghan usually. She enjoyed generously gifting her handmade crafts to friends and family.
She married James L. “Andy” Anderson on Sept. 17, 1961, at the Acorn Church. He preceded her in death on Dec. 12, 2001.
Mary Dell was also preceded in death by her parents and three sisters, Karen, Pam, and Bonita.
Survivors include a daughter, Lisa Smith (Kevin), Hoyt; a son, Jon Anderson (Beth), Pea Ridge, Ark.; a brother, Rodney Liles, Harrah, Okla.; five grandchildren, MaRyka, Karsen, Aisha, Jayse and Kyera; and two great-grandchildren.
