Marvin Strube 1943-2025
Marvin Eugene Strube, 82, passed away Tuesday, July 15, 2025, at his home in Whiting.
He was born Jan. 19, 1943, in Horton, the son of Martin H. Strube and Mary Helen (Weidman) Strube.
Marvin graduated from Powhattan High School in 1961 and Highland Community College in 1963, earning his associate degree.
He was a lifelong farmer. Marvin loved the land and loved to talk to anyone about farming and the pride he had in farming with his son, Kevin. He knew no stranger. A fun memory Marvin liked to share was when he was a bus driver during his college years.
Marvin enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s activities. He also enjoyed ‘50s, ‘60s and classic country music. Marvin and Joyce liked to dance for any occasion.
He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Netawaka. Marvin was very active in the church and held multiple offices. He was a past board member of the Powhattan School.
Marvin married Joyce Elaine Gaul on Sept. 5, 1965, in Wathena. They celebrated nearly 60 years of marriage.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce of the home; two sons, Kevin Strube (Angela) of Horton and Jeffrey Strube (Shawna) of Gilbert, Ariz.; two sisters, Joyce Thompson (Don) of Conway Springs and Connie Snyder (Ron) of Hiawatha; one brother, Terry Strube (Jeanie) of Horton; five grandchildren, Kasey Strube (Audra), Korby Strube, Katelin Kuhlman (Zach), Morgan Strube and Jake Strube; four great-grandchildren, Hudson, Sierra, Chandler and Bentley; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 19 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Netawaka. Burial will follow in Netawaka Cemetery. Family will greet friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton.
