Marjorie LaNier 1933-2024
Marjorie Maxine LaNier, 91, of Wetmore, passed away Sunday, Nov. 24, 2024, at the Apostolic Christian Home in Sabetha.
She was born in Wetmore, the daughter of Clarence Leo John and Helena Matilda (Brandt) Thieme, on Jan. 4, 1933.
Marjorie graduated from Wetmore High School in 1951. After high school, she worked at the Brown County Infirmary for more than 17 years. When the infirmary closed, she went and worked as a CMA at Oak Ridge Acres in Hiawatha, retiring after 21 years of service.
Marjorie was a former member of Netawaka Immanuel Lutheran Church and was attending Wetmore Baptist Church.
On June 10, 1951, Marjorie was united in marriage to Clifford Elroy LaNier in Wetmore (at the same house she was born in and later made it their home after her parents passed). They shared more than 42 years of marriage before Clifford’s passing on Nov. 22, 1993. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Helena Thieme; a son, Larry LaNier; and a brother, Marvin Thieme.
Survivors include her daughter, Sharon DeVader (Dan) of Holton; five grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
The family will greet friends from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 29 at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Private family graveside services will be held at the Wetmore Cemetery.
