Marjorie Heim 1969-2026
Marjorie Lou “Wauksaqua” Heim, 56, of Topeka, passed away on Monday, March 30, 2026, surrounded by her family at The University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City.
She was born Nov. 15, 1969, in Holton, the daughter of Vernon Barrow and Myra Matchie. She attended Little Priest Tribal College in Winnebago, Neb.
She was a homemaker most of her life where she was a devoted and nurturing mother and grandmother. She was a member of the Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation.
Marjorie is survived by two daughters, Samantha Heim (Kyle Vega) of Topeka and Arwyn “Heather” Heim (Paul Lee) of Topeka; three sons, Paul Heim of Topeka, Jason Heim (Raquel Bahr) of Topeka and Charles Heim (Faith Cole) of Atchison; a sister, Ruta Mendez of Holton; a brother, Raymond Nioce of Holton; 10 grandchildren, Carson, Gracelin, Kason, Lennox, Pearl, Zaylee, Ciaran, Mena, Jackson and Rosemary; and many nieces and nephews she loved as her own.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Vernon and Myra; and three brothers, Benjamin Nioce, Paul Lawrence and Sam Barrow.
Every beat of Marjorie’s heart was a tribute to her family. She was a sanctuary for the weary and a friend to the forgotten.
Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 10 at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Burial will follow at Thunder Eagle Cemetery.
