Marcia Potts 1946-2023

Marcia Faye Potts, 77, of Mayetta, passed away Saturday, Dec. 30, 2023, at her home with her family by her side.

She was born Feb. 1, 1946, in Holton, the daughter of George Afton and Beatrice Faye (Cashman) Couch. 

Marcia attended high school at Great Bend High School. She was a caretaker, florist and worked in construction management. Marcia, her husband, Vernon, and her family built the Potawatomi Pentecostal Church on their property and she was the pastor for her church for more than 20 years. She also enjoyed gardening.

Marcia married Vernon Potts on July 15, 1965, in Miami, Okla. Vernon preceded her in death on April 15, 2004, after more than 38 years of marriage. She was also preceded in death by her parents, George and Beatrice Couch; son, Clint Potts; sister, Diana Marie Lamb; and brother, Steven Couch. 

Survivors include two daughters, Verna Potts and Jona Rupnicki (John Sr.), both of Mayetta; three brothers, David Couch of Hawaii, Warren Couch of Missouri and Darrel Couch of Mayetta; six grandchildren, Nolan, Taylor Faye, Kaylyn, Charon, Triton and Doran; and five great-grandchildren, Afton, Kayson, Evolette, Serenity and Dash. 

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 5 at the Potawatomi Pentecostal Church (on the homeplace). Burial will follow at the Potawatomi Pentecostal Cemetery. Family will greet friends from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton.
