Lynn Jerome 1946-2023
Delpha “Lynn” Jerome, 77, of Circleville, passed away Saturday, Oct. 7, 2023, at Onaga Community Hospital with her husband by her side.
She was born Aug. 20, 1946, east of Denison, the daughter of Leland Matthew “Lee” and Juneva Sarah (Johnston) Edwards.
Lynn graduated from Valley Falls High School. In her early years, Lynn was a homemaker. She worked for 12 years at Oldham’s Sausage in Holton and for more than 22 years, she owned and operated Jerome Liquor Store alongside her husband, Kenny, retiring in 2018.
She married James E. Nichols; to this union were born her four children. They later divorced.
Lynn married Kenny R. Jerome on Nov. 16, 1990, in Oskaloosa; they celebrated more than 32 years of marriage.
Survivors include her husband, Kenny, of the home; two sons, Tony Nichols (Penny) of Topeka and Terry Nichols (Debbie) of Valley Falls; a daughter, Teresa Lassiter (Barry) of Valley Falls; a sister, Dixie L. Bomhoff of Topeka; 14 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lee and Juneva Edwards; a son, Travis Nichols and a brother, Leland Edwards.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 14 at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Burial will follow in Valley Falls Cemetery. Lynn will lie in state beginning Thursday afternoon and Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
