Lori Darveaux 1955-2022

Loretta C. “Lori” Darveaux, 67, of Valley Falls, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2022 at her home with family by her side. She fought a courageous battle with Multiple Sclerosis. Lori was born Sept. 20, 1955 in Kimball, Neb., the daughter of Leland C. and Marlys (Long) Derr.
Lori graduated from Valley Falls High School in 1973 and earned her Associated Degree at Bryant Clark’s Business School in Topeka. She worked for more than 42 years at Stormont Vail Hospital, starting as Medical Record Clerk and retiring in 2020 as Clinical Secretary in NICU.
She was a member of St. Mary’s Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and a 45-year member of the Altar Society. While her children were young, she was a leader for Girls Scouts and 4-H.
Lori married Gerald “Jerry” Joseph Darveaux on June 21, 1975 in Valley Falls. They celebrated 47 years of marriage.
Survivors include her husband, Jerry, of the home; her daughter, Charyn J. Darveaux (Breann) of Meriden; two sons, Rhys J.E. Darveaux (Amber) of Meriden and Tynen J. Darveaux of Valley Falls; two sisters, Patti Keithley of Topeka and Gloria Bruna (Dale) of Hanover; two brothers, Stanley Derr (Marsha) of Mayetta and Darwin Derr of Grand Island, Neb.; and four grandchildren, Kyernen, Tynen Jr., Sydney and Rori Darveaux.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Leland and Marlys Derr; a brother, Steven Derr; and a nephew, Donavan Derr.
Memorial Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 8, 2022 at St. Mary’s Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Valley Falls. Family will greet friends from 9 a.m. until 10 a.m. with Rosary to be recited at 10 a.m. Inurnment will follow at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.
