Lois Dominguez 1956-2024

Lois Rue “Louie” Wabaunsee Dominguez, 68, Wichita, died Monday, Jan. 8, 2024, at her home.

She was born Jan. 1, 1956, in Mayetta, the daughter of Llewellyn “Lou” and Freda J. Nozhackum Wabaunsee.

Mrs. Dominguez was a member of the Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation.

She married Michael “Mike” Dominguez on June 13, 1985, in Wichita. He survives.

Other survivors include a sister, Winifred “Goffy” Wahweotten, Mayetta; a son, Ron Wabaunsee Dominguez; two daughters, Francine Michael Dominguez and Andrea Marie Dominguez, all of Wichita; 12 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lou and Freda Wabaunsee; four sisters, Marsha Ferrari, Louella “Henry” Wabaunsee, Mary “Monnie” Wabaunsee and Frances Wabaunsee; three brothers, Fred Lew Wabaunsee, Richard Wabaunsee and Ralph Wabnum; and a granddaughter, Josephina Lalia Dominguez.

Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 16 at Our Lady of the Snows Catholic Church. A rosary will be recited at 4 p.m. Monday at the Sister Therese Klepac Hall with a wake to follow. She will lie in state from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton.
