Lisa Hubener 1967-2021

Lisa Ann Hubener, 53, died Thursday, May 20, 2021 at the Stormont-Vail Health Center in Topeka.

She was born July 4, 1967, in Kansas City, Mo., the daughter of Elmer “Bill” and Carol Mollick Hubener.

Even though she was mentally challenged, Lisa enjoyed life. She had an uplifting personality and loved music and singing, decorating Hallmark Cards and working in the Quest workshop. Her face lit up the day she learned the concept of yesterday and tomorrow, and how that related to the holidays, which she loved. She loved chicken nuggets at McDonald’s and the drinks at Sonic. When she was able, she attended Bethel Community Church in Topeka.

Survivors include her parents, Elmer W. “Bill” and Carol Ann Hubener, Topeka; two brothers, Donny Hubener (Jackie), Overland Park, and Ryan Hubener, Kansas City, Mo.; one nephew, Zane Hubener; four uncles, Carl Hubener (Judy), Topeka, Ernest Hubener, Chicago, and Joe Mollick and Stephen Mollick, both in Pennsylvania; and an aunt, Marian Twigg, Pottsville, Pa.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, May 28 at Bethel Community Church, north of Topeka. Burial will follow in Prairie Home Cemetery. Lisa will lie in state after 9 a.m. Thursday at Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Hoyt, where family and friends will meet from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
