Linda Tecumseh 1949-2026

Linda Sue “Nozheko” Tecumseh, 77, Mayetta, died Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at St. Francis Hospital in Topeka.

She was born May 1, 1949, in Holton, the daughter of Maxine M. Nozhackum Ramirez. She graduated from Mayetta High School in 1967 and attended Haskell Indian Nations University.

Mrs. Tecumseh was a member of Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation and had worked for almost 30 years for the Prairie Band Potawatomi Tribe, retiring in the payroll department.

She married Michael Kitchkommie. They divorced. She married Ralph “Pok-To” Tecumseh on Oct. 16, 1982. He preceded her in death on Feb. 11, 2012. She was also preceded in death by her mother, Maxine Ramirez; a son, Cody C. Nozhackum; and two brothers, Timothy and Thomas Ramirez.

Survivors include three sons, Mario Kitchkommie, Mayetta, Frank Tecumseh and wife Melissa, in Michigan, and Nelson Tecumseh and wife Betty, Mayetta; a daughter, Amber Tecumseh, Mayetta; two sisters, Brenda Nozhackum, Mayetta, and Beatrice Ramirez, Holton; 10 grandchildren; and many other brothers and sisters.

Mrs. Tecumseh will lie in state from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, July 16 at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Wake and Ttibekwe will be held Thursday evening at Nozhackum Hall. Burial will be held Friday morning at Danceground Cemetery.
