Linda Campbell 1958-2025
Linda Sue Campbell, 66, of Circleville, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 13, 2025, at her home.
She was born Oct. 25, 1958, in Pittsburg, the daughter of Carl and Vida Coester Toney. She graduated from Girard High School in 1976.
Linda was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Holton.
She had sold Avon cosmetics, worked with Ann Wells Realty in Danville, Ill., and later worked in the Title Department for the State of Kansas.
She married Gus O’Dean Hoskins on May 24, 1976. Within that marriage they had two daughters, Sarah and Keli. She married Steven R. Campbell on March 20, 1999, in Danville, Ill. He survives, of the home.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents and a stepdaughter, Anna Creevan.
Other survivors include two daughters, Sarah Hoskins, Hiawatha, and Keli Hoskins, Onaga; four stepdaughters, Rachel Johnson (David), Emmett, Gine Coburn, Diamond, Mo., Tharesa Carlon (Ramero), Wichita, and Sarah Neeley (J.D.), Topeka; a brother, Dwayne “Butch” Toney (Cheri), Topeka; three sisters, Brenda Boothe (Gary), Wathena, Cindy Nunamaker (David), Excelsior Springs, Mo., and Sandy Lundberg (Randy), Gilbert, Ariz.; 18 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Linda was a devout wife, loved going on adventures and loved her grandchildren even more. Linda was not only known as Grandma but also held the title of “Bob” by some of her grandchildren. Linda was quick to tell anyone who would listen a recent story about how proud she was of her children and especially her grandchildren. She loved listening to music and family gatherings. She was always willing to help where she could.
She would drop what she was doing if she heard anyone talking about a bonfire and make sure to be there. We all remember the burnt hot dogs. She loved to play games and especially loved geocaching. She was very well-known for her potato salad and making sure the cookie jar was always ready for little hands to reach in and grab a cookie. She loved a good punny joke and was ready to let you hear her latest.
As a sister she was quick-witted, goofy, occasionally gullible and loved living her life. Her indelible zip lining incident will definitely still be talked about for years to come. She was quick with her comebacks and the laugh she had with the occasional snort. Linda enjoyed attending services at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses and held her fellow brothers and sisters there close to her heart.
Services are pending and will be held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Holton along with a celebration of life.
