Leola Porter 1924-2015

Leola M. Porter, 90, Holton, died Monday, June 22, 2015, at Medicalodges Jackson County.
She was born Dec. 4, 1924, in Mayetta, the daughter of Charles H. and Jessie Snair McCrory. She graduated from Denison High School in 1943 and had lived most of her life in rural Mayetta.
Mrs. Porter worked for Gossip Printery after high school. She was a homemaker until her children were raised, then worked for Hallmark Cards and Stauffer Publications, retiring in 1989.
She was a member of the Reformed Presbyterian Church.
She married Warren C. Porter on Dec. 4, 1946, in Mayetta. He died June 5, 1992. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Kathryn Copeland; a brother, Melvin McCrory; and a granddaughter, Brenda Weber.
Survivors include three daughters, Juanita Decker and husband Jack, Westcliffe, Colo., Roberta Spencer and husband David, Circleville, and Nancy Weber, Topeka; two sons, David Porter and wife Lou Ann, Mayetta, and Ernest Porter and wife Mary, Holton; a sister, Helen Hug, Holton; three sisters-in-law, Clara McCrory and Mary Bell Keys, both of Holton, and Ruth Lichtenstern, Topeka; 14 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Reformed Presbyterian Church in Denison. Burial will follow in Denison Cemetery. Family will greet friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton.
