Lavon Keehn 1943-2023
Lavon Keehn, 79, of Wetmore, passed away Friday, March 24, 2023, at Stormont-Vail Hospital in Topeka.
She was born March 29, 1943, in Soldier, the daughter of Leon Gerald and Eva Irene (Davis) Schreiber.
Lavon graduated from Soldier High School in 1961. She worked for United Telephone and the Jackson County Health Department, visiting new moms and their newborns in Holton. She also worked for Hallmark Cards, Bell Telephone and the KBI, all in Topeka.
She was a lifelong member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Netawaka and the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League. Lavon spent most of her life in the Soldier and Wetmore communities.
Lavon married Ernest (Ernie) Keehn on May 25, 1962, at her parents’ home in Soldier. He survives of the home.
Other survivors include her sons, Michael Keehn (Shelia) of Wetmore, Al Keehn (Tery) of Wetmore and Kertis Keehn of Netawaka; her daughters, Kathryn Mikesell (Bob) of Jamestown and Jennifer McAfee (Caleb) of Wetmore; her siblings, Debra Rash (Harmon) of Circleville, Leota Wilkerson (Steve) of Circleville, Bonnie White of Washington State and Gary Schreiber (Annette) of Soldier; 18 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son-in-law, Jason McMahon; a brother-in-law, Jim White; and a granddaughter, Abigail Mikesell.
Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 31 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Netawaka. Burial will follow in Soldier Cemetery. Family will greet friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton.
